As the more observant of you may have seen, Cally Uni has been in the news recently. They are in the process of converting the ARC building into a COVID Testing Centre. While this will be of benefit to the wider community, it will be the detriment of some other groups. In particular, GWEFC, since our training venue will now be unavailable to us until at least January 2021.

We had been planning to open based on the Scottish Government’s proposed date of 5th October for indoor adult combat sports. The club had been in discussion with British and Scottish Fencing and had planned changes to allow for safe training. Unfortunately, the change to the purpose of the ARC has put all of these plans on hold.

The club committee will investigate whether other suitable venues are available for us to start back before January. However, this may prove difficult.

Members can of course start training with other clubs and continue with other forms of exercise. GWEFC will be back and we need you fit and ready to fence.
